A note from Rob Skovell.
In 2007 Michel and I were involved in the inaugural "fun flight" where seriously ill children were treated to a fabulous day flying around the bay and other activities.
As I anticipated for some of these families the portraits taken on the day are the only ones of the family, what wasn't anticipated by me or Michel was that some of the kids had passed away a short while after this event and the portraits I created were the only ones of the child, let alone of the family.
With this in mind, when Michel and I met again we discussed this and thought it may be a really good thing to do a full on family shoot in a more conducive setting allowing as many families as possible to benefit from this.
After some more strategic planning I thought of the title " a moment in life" as these families are only too aware of the fragility of their lives and when invitations went out to my colleagues they all got the picture quickly and joined in.
The day went beautifully, the organization was flawless, Starlight volunteers made the day very easy for us, Melbourne Museum were marvelous and the catering was very well received.
I eagerly look forward to Moment in Life 09.

Moments in Life 2008, on Saturday 23 August, was the day where a group of about ten professional photographers had taken family portraits of StarLight Foundation members and their family.
It is fantastic to see these seriously ill children, and their families, not having to think about their next chemo or their next trip to the hospital. The photos will truly be a moment in what is sometimes a too short a life.
The Melbourne Museum had offered us the use of the Museum and the surrounding Carlton Gardens for that day, and the StarLight Foundation had organised a range of activities for the families.
The photos were printed, and framed by Sumo Visual Solutions and were presented to each family at KPGM after the event.
